Give it, don’t bin it

What is Give it, don’t bin it?

Give it, don’t bin it is a Manchester Met & city-wide student move out and recycling campaign.

It is all about making sure that unwanted items are donated to our charity partners so then can be reused and repurposed.

The campaign is aimed at students who are leaving their accommodation at the end of the year, but staff are welcome to donate their unwanted items too.

You make good things happen

We work with our charity partners to raise funds and redistribute food to the people who need it.

Last year an amazing 169 tonnes of items were donated to the British Heart Foundation (BHF), which raised a massive £322,000 to help support lifesaving research and treatments. The equivalent of 2000 meals was also donated, which helped local people experiencing food poverty.

What to donate

Clothing, paired shoes, books, CDs & DVDs, clean pots, pans and crockery and small working electrical goods (toasters, hairdryers, radios etc).

Food donations

We are collecting your surplus food to donate to local foodbanks. Please make sure food items are unopened and non-perishable, such as tins, packets and cartons. Donation points are located in Manchester Met Student Living receptions.
